Net Neutrality protections will be repealed tomorrow (Monday, June 11th, 2018), and over the next several months to a year, by my estimation, you will probably see a drastic change in the internet. Your internet bill will sky rocket, people will be censored, news outlets won’t load. Its all predictable, yet unpredictable what will happen.

But remember that the most important thing to do now, besides continuing to call your representatives, is to VOTE IN THE UPCOMING PRIMARIES, AND THE GENERAL ELECTIONS IN NOVEMBER. If we can flip enough states from red to blue, it will greatly help us fight back. Ajit Pai tried to stop us from getting access to important information, and he succeeded in destroying NN, but he was too late to stop us from informing ourselves. We know what to do now. We have to strap on our metaphorical combat boots, educate ourselves and others, help others to register to vote, and get the word out about candidates in your area.

We can get Net Neutrality back, but it will not happen overnight.

Helpful tips for school:

Join extra curriculars. Unless your schedule is already full, join them. You will never regret joining drama club or NHS because at the end of the day, you end up with more friends, another thing to put on your resume, a fun way to spend your time, and probably a skill for further down the road
Befriend your teachers. Not all of them, they don’t even have to be the ones who teach you in particular. Just make sure you have an adult or two around school that you can chat with and joke around in friendly way. School doesn’t seem so bad when you can tell your history teacher about your new pet, or if you’re able to tell an adult who you can trust about a sensitive matter.
Do I even have to say it? Drink a lot of water. I know you have to go to school really early, and you’re tired and probably feel like death itself is seeping into your bones, but drink some water. It’ll give you the push you need to power through and it makes me feel significantly less tired. You can even infuse mint and lemon into the water for a vitamin boost and a little bit of flavor. Plus, the added benefit of looking boujie af even though it’s literally just water and some leaves you found outside.
Let yourself be ugly. You don’t have to come to school in nice clothes and nice makeup or expensive shoes. Who cares? Your classmates? Your teachers? Your crush? You’re tired and you need to work on your studies, and a quick tip, they are also tired and probably trying to work on their assignments too. Skip the wings in the morning in favor of getting some breakfast and a glass of water. Letting yourself be ugly is freeing.
If your school will allow it, bring small bags of snacks. Oreos, grapes, cheezits and carrots are some of my favorites. I gaurantee that your mood will be improved by 38% when you remember that bag of snacks. Snack throughout the day and you’ll get the energy to focus more as well.
Ask questions my dudes. No one’s going to look at you stupidly, and if they do, screw them you’re trying to learn. Most of the time, when you ask the teacher a queation aloud, another student is silently thanking you because they had the same question and were too self conscious to ask. Ask your question for that kid; ask your question for your education.
You got stickers? Put that on your notes. You like to doodle? Doodle in your notes. Cool highlighters and pens? Whoops now your notes are in pink glitter. Make your notes silly. Write that Geroge Washington was a bitch because his troops were annoying. As long as you have the subject matter down, you can write your notes however YOU want to. As long as it will make you in particular remember, go for it.
Make group chats for your classes. Help each other with your homework and save a life by helping everyone with question #8 on that dumb Algebra 2 review. I don’t think I would have passed like five of my classes last year without the help of my class group chats. Make them, send memes and equations.
Do a mental check of what you need for school the next day in your head before you fall asleep. When you wake up, your first thoughts are probably going to be “ugh light” and then something along the lines of “oh yeah don’t forget _______”. I can’t say if this tip will help everyone, but it helps me a ton.
If you’re having trouble with a lesson, especially maths, and no matter how it’s explained you can’t get it, I’m just going to go ahead and say that that’s your priority. When you get home from school, before you do anything, google how to do it. Write it out a lot and do it step by step in a number of different ways until you get it. Make sure you don’t let yourself do anything else because you can get distracted. When you’ve got it. Hooray, I’m proud of you even if your work goes unnoticed by everyone else. You are trying, school is way too hard, and you’ve got something that you previousl struggled with. You’re one step closer to goal.

That’s all I have at the moment. Feel free to add on more if you’d like. Remember to unclench your jaw and release the tension in your shoulders. Take a deep breath. School sucks but hopefully you can make it through the day.
